  1. Consultant-HIM-Coding- Company in FL BUT POSITION

            based elsewhere out of home -Bachelor’s Degree, Specialty – At least one from AAPC or AHIMA or: CCS, CPC-H, RHIT or RHIA; Minimum of five (5) years in a hospital HIM Department and Minimum of five (5) years with a consulting firm conducting Coding Reviews, Auditing, Consultant; not “just” coding; Extensive experience in both Inpatient and Outpatient medical records reviews;  Travel nationwide firm, up to 65% of the calendar weeks (maximum number has been 33 weeks per year)-Travel times:  Leave home early on Monday morning (usually fly out around 6 AM depending on the destination; may leave out on Sunday, if desired).  Leave Client site on Friday “late afternoon” to be home by Friday night; sometimes late, depending on cities. Must use their own personal credit card for travel expenses (NO corporate credit cards available)-Company  reimburses travel expenses, with receipts, every two (2) weeks; other skills: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Email/etc; Have the ability to learn, and use specialty programs, national and designed, i.e. Grouper, codes, etc., Use of, and access to the internet, especially when working with a Client’s EMRs, doing research, etc., Have the ability to write a meaningful, comprehensive report after completing a review/audit.  Some of these can be hundreds of pages-Proof work prior to submitting to company and/or client. Requires 5 years hospital based leadership in Health Information Management and must have good working knowledge of HIM resources, objectives and priorities.  This position has the authority and responsibility of directing, planning, coordinating, and administering the medical records program of the hospital; supervising and managing department operations; and is directly responsible for supervising the Medical Record Analysts/Coders, Medical Records Transcriptionists and Medical Records Clerks.  Ensures that medical records are complete and accurate, and conform to accepted TJC standards The Director of Health Information Management is also the Privacy Officer of the Hospital and is required to provide guidance and instruction to the hospital employees. RHIT or RHIA;  High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience required. 5 years hospital based experience in Health Information Management required, 5 years leadership experience in Health Information Management required. Must have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Effective human relations skills are required for interfacing with team members, all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families and other contacts.  Must possess the ability to effectively function in a stressful environment.  Must possess the ability to use the following equipment; Telephone/Overhead Paging System/Fax Machine/Calculator/Computer. The Nursing Informaticist will facilitate the integration of data, information and knowledge to support projects impacting patients and nurses.   Provides a liaison between clinical workflows and information technology in the implementation, optimization and ongoing support of clinical systems involved with the electronic health record (EHR).  The Nursing Informaticist acts as an advocate for clinical workflows within the confines of the EHR and helps build adoption and improved use of the system.  Focus is on being the advocate and change agent for hospital leaders and clinicians to ensure maximum benefit of the EHR.   A valid RN License BLS required.  ADN required, BSN preferred.  Willing to accomplish ANCC certification in Nursing Informatics.
